Charlie, our dog, had his 2nd birthday. He and Trent are like best friends. So funny to watch them play together and wrestle. I'm still hoping to get that on video soon.
We took Trent to his first Minor-League Baseball game with my(Meredith's) mom for mother's day. He still loves to watch everything that goes on. David had the opportunity to throw out one of the first pitches for the game. He had fun doing it, and if anyone is wondering it was a wild pitch all the way back to the back-stop. (Pics on picasa)
Then we geared up for our big trip to Texas for Memorial Day weekend. We were a little unsure about how Trent would handle driving 11 hours, so we decided to drive during the night so he could sleep during regular sleeping hours. On the way there he did great!! Slept about 8 hours and only fussed when he got hungry. We arrived at our friends', the Romine's, house about 7 Friday morning. We basically napped all day Friday. Trent did play in the pool for awhile and wanted to enjoy it, but the water was so cold! Saturday, David went and played golf with Charlie and Labaron (baseball coach from Schulenburg), while Trent and I played at the pool. Saturday evening, Carla kept Trent while David and I went into Katy to see a movie and grab some dinner with Charlie and Christian. Sunday morning David lead worship for the church plant in Schulenburg and after went to lunch with some of the students from the youth ministry. That evening the Romine's invited everyone to the house for some burgers and games. It was great to see everyone! (Pics on Picasa)
David started his new job at Best Buy in May as part-time with the customer service department. It has now been a month and he is out of training, he is enjoying it, and now there is some rumors about moving him to full-time. He has also been asked to pre-screen all the applicants for Best Buy and decide who gets a face-to-face interview. He has enjoyed doing that and has had some interesting stories about the applicants he has talked to!
At the end of May we took a quick but wonderful trip over to Six Flags with our good friends Jeff and Karen. It was a beautiful day with a few clouds so it was not that hot, like it is right now. The lines were actually pretty short, most of the time we were riding within 30-45 minutes. Our longest wait all day was an hour. It was great! Thanks to Jeff and Karen for taking us! Also, Trent started daycare the June 1st! What a transition for all of us. He is at a great school that we really like and is in a great location for both David and I going to work. It may seem small but it really is a huge help. We have hit a few snags along the way though, the week before Trent started there was a kid in his class who came down with Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease which is highly contagious. So his class was quarantined for about 2 1/2 weeks and he did end up catching it at the end of his first week. It starts with a fever and then in a couple of days blisters show up in their mouth, the palms of the hands, and the bottom of the feet. YUCK!! He is such a trooper though. But as a start to daycare it really was not all that fun. I expected a little cold or something but there you go, we started with the big stuff. I should also mention there are no antibiotics for this, so it is just Tylenol and treating the blisters. It took about a week to really get over all of that, so on to week 3... this is the week he suddenly figured out that when Mommy drops me off, she leaves and doesn't come back for a while. So he started screaming every time I dropped him off and has everyday since. So sad makes me want to cry, but the teachers say it only last a few minutes and he has a great time playing all day. So I'm okay. Wednesday of his 3rd week he comes down with a low grade fever just before bedtime. We were thinking he is just teething so it is no big deal. Thursday morning came and it was up to 101 and I ended up staying home with him. Well it just kept going up all day and I could not do anything that would even stop it. So I called the Dr late in the afternoon and the nurse told me there must be some sort of fever virus going around, where a fever is the only symptom. I thought, great another virus from daycare. We worked through it for 2 more days, fever topped out Thursday night at 103. But we were better by Saturday and have been since. Thank you, Lord!
Well in the midst of all that, David and I had celebrated our 3rd Anniversary of marital bliss on June 17th, and it really has been. I could not have ask God for a better man than He gave me. He knew exactly what I needed in a husband and provided it all. Thank You! He is so tender-heart, loving, and a spectacular father to Trent. What more could a girl ask for? I love you, sweetheart!
On that note, also a Happy Father's Day to David as well as our Dads and Granddads! We had a great father's day....we did exactly whatever David wanted to do, which was of course to nap then hang out at a friend's pool and have fun with Trenton. So much fun. (Pics on Picasa)
David: Some of you may remember that at the same time David was interviewing for job in Texas he also interviewed for a job at Mountain Brook as the Technical Director. Well, the guy that that took that job actually got a part in a movie and he and his wife are moving to California leaving a vacancy on staff at MBCC. David had a couple interviews: one with the Pastor, Director of Ministry, Administrator, and the current Technical Director, David said he was very nervous and intimidated, but felt that it went well. Well, apparently it did because yesterday the church called and offered David the job! We accepted the position and David will start July 20th working with Matt (current guy) and shadowing him for a week to see his routine. As technical director David will oversee all the technical needs of the church from the sound systems down to the phone systems. The biggest part will be computer functionality and training staff on software changes and frequent errors. Congratualations David! So that brings everything up-to-date on our lives. I hope that I get better about doing this more often. And be sure to check out all the pictures on the picasa website (link to the right).
